This is our why.

From a Father who lost his son:

“We look at his nose, and he’s got the same nose as the other kids, his hair. And if it was just in my memory, I wouldn’t have that because I don’t, I can’t remember much about that day. If it wasn’t for the photos, I don’t know what I would remember, really… It’s a comfort to us.”

Professional Bereavement Photography in the Setting of Perinatal Loss: A Qualitative Analysis

When someone we love dies, what do we do? What do we cling to when grief finds us? Each other, hopefully. Our memories, certainly. Perhaps the things or the places that were special to our loved one. Almost universally, however, to keep the ones we’ve lost close, we cling to our pictures of them. Where memories might fail us, photographs do not. When you can never take another picture of the one you love, the images you have may as well be pure gold.

No matter how or when it comes, The Ever Foundation was created to honor souls at the end of a journey. The images we capture are a way for people to hold on to memories of their loved ones which grief might otherwise obscure. In some cases, they may even provide some of the only proof that their loved one was here at all. Whatever the circumstances, legacy photography can be tremendously helpful to those facing the unthinkable. Because we believe no one should receive a bill during such difficult days, we built an organization whose gathered donations will keep these professional legacy photo sessions free for the people who need them. At The Ever Foundation, our work helps to return some small piece of the ones we have lost to the ones who will love and miss them forever.

Our Founder

Carrie Radford has been many things: ship captain, whale researcher, writer, tour guide, volunteer, advocate, even monkey wrangler. Thanks to excellent training from her partner, Thor, perhaps her favorite job (so far) has been photographer and storyteller. Photography is its most powerful when we use it as a tool. From homeless shelters to animal rescue organizations, her images have been used to help tell the stories of the most vulnerable among us. So it comes as no surprise that her time as an end-of-life photographer working with the incredible team at Soulumination in Seattle, Washington was so transformative. Her work with Soulumination families stayed with her so much that after relocating to the Netherlands in 2022, she decided to establish The Ever Foundation to continue the mission of providing free legacy photography services in Europe. Carrie remains committed to capturing the images and telling the stories whose impact can help those who need it most.

Our Board

The Ever Foundation currently consists of five board members. Carrie Radford is President. Alex Abate is Treasurer. Riley Newman-Gatton is Secretary. The remaining board members are Thor Radford and Heather Baker. All board positions are unpaid.
